WALKATHON IS HERE!

Helman Elementary School PTA’s annual fall fundraiser, the Walkathon, is a way for every student and family in the Helman community to make a real difference at our school by helping to raise money for a broad range of classroom enrichment and extra-curricular activities.
This week your student is bringing home an envelope with instructions for gathering pledges. Please make any effort you can to collect pledges and inspire your child to feel a sense of ownership in the annual walkathon.

Next Thursday, October 2nd, students will walk, run, hop, skip, cartwheel, roll, or otherwise propel themselves around a 1/10 mile grass track as many times as they are inspired to do so on. Family, friends, and neighbors near and far are encouraged to pledge a per-lap or fixed donation amount so that the more laps each child completes, the more money they help to raise for projects such as:
- The Ashland Ponds Project
- After-School Arts program
- Science Fair
- School Improvements
- Classroom enrichment grants
- Musical Instruments
- A PA/sound system for the Talent Show and other school-wide events
- Field Trips
- General classroom supplies
- Educational support, i.e. reading specialist expenses
- Playground Equipment
- Physical Education
- Dance Education
- And More!

We are hoping to set a new school record: Our goal is 100% of our students participate in Walkathon and return their pledge envelopes to be entered in the raffle. Whether the pledge envelope contains five cents or fifty dollars, every student who returns their pledge envelope by October 24th will be entered in a raffle for some fabulous health and fitness related prizes.Grand prize is a NEW PAIR OF RUNNING SHOES.
